LAHORE: Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) Chairman Hafiz Farhat Abbas has said that raising awareness about technical education among youngsters and parents was the basic goal of the authority and they would set up summer camps in different areas of the province.

He said to Tevta officials at the secretariat on Thursday skills summer camps would be launched across the Punjab for the first time and it would introduce 19 short courses for boys while 16 others for the girls.

The courses being offered included mobile repairing, motorcycle mechanic work, beautician, fashion designing, professional cooking, web designing and others, he said.

The chairman said that these courses were being launched after modification whereas special steps were also being taken for interest of students. He said the summer camp classes would begin from June 12 all over the province and advised the operation wing to maintain the similar quality standards in all districts and no compromise should be made on quality.

Mr Abbas also said the government was considering using all resources for providing employment opportunities to the youngsters of the Punjab.

BISE: Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Chairman Prof Chaudhry Muhammad Ismail says the board has a foolproof mechanism for transparent conduct of examinations and there is no truth in the reports doing the rounds on social media about the leakage of paper.

He refuted rumours about the leakage of an intermediate part-II paper and said the examination process was going on very smoothly and in a transparent manner.

Prof Ismail told reporters on Thursday the board has made elaborate arrangements to ensure complete transparency of the examination process and a superintendent of examination was handed over to police for violating the devised procedures and they were also conducting further investigation into the matter.

He said that more than 360,000 candidates were taking examinations at 577 centres while 4,000 invigilators were working in the centres.

Prof Ismail said mobile teams were also inspecting exam centres.
