KARACHI: The governing body of the Karachi Medical and Dental College on Thursday gave approval for the establishment of an executive dental clinic in the institution, run by the city’s municipal administration, to provide good quality treatment to patients, especially those living near and around the college.

The governing body meeting, chaired by Mayor Wasim Akhtar, also decided to set up a welfare fund for the staff of the college from the 10 per cent of the revenue.

The participants in the meeting were informed that the PC-I for the construction of two floors of the college building in the second phase of the project had been sent to the president for approval and work on it would start right after the approval and availability of funds for it.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Mayor Syed Arshad Hasan, Metropolitan Commissioner Dr Syed Saif-ur-Rehman and other members of the governing body.

The mayor on this occasion urged the governing body members to maintain the standard of the college and for the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation would take all necessary measures, including raise in the grant for the college for this purpose.

The governing body also gave approval for the creation of new administrative posts in the college and the budget of the college for financial year 2019-20.
