KARACHI: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) qualified for the quarter-finals of the Brighto presents Osaka Naya Nazimabad Ramzan Cup with a 17-run win against K-Electric at the Naya Nazimabad Stadium here on Sunday night.
The second win for the NBP left them topping Group ‘B’ with K-Electric also reaching the last-eight round as the runners-up on net run-rate with both departments having secured two victories in three fixtures.
Batting first, NBP reached 176-7 with ex-Pakistan player Kamran Akmal making a 30-ball 47 (five fours and two sixes).
K-Electric, in reply, reached 159-5 with Jahanzaib Sultan striking a 41-ball 56 with six boundaries and a brace of sixes.
Having already been assured of the last-eight berths, Pakistan Currency grabbed the No.1 spot in Group ‘C’ by sealing a four-wicket win over State Bank.
After the bankers had posted 173-2 with discarded Pakistan T20 opener Mukhtar Ahmed striking 12 boundaries and a six during his dazzling 52-ball knock of 76 not out, Pakistan Currency rode on a fourth-wicket stand of 132 between Zubair Ali (80 off 45 balls, seven sixes and five fours) and Iftikhar Ahmed (55 not out, 39 balls, three sixes and three fours) to reach the target in 19.5 overs.
National Bank beat K-Electric by 17 runs.
