KARACHI: Child run over by bus

KARACHI, Jan 13: A three-year-old boy died in a road accident in Landhi on Sunday.

The police said that Rahim Shah, aged three, was run over by a recklessly- driven minibus while walking across, with his mother, the main road in Landhi.

Both mother and son were rushed to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where doctors pronounced the boy dead on arrival. His mother had been admitted to the hospital, the police said.

The driver of the minibus of route W-18 (JE-6284) fled the scene after the accident, the police added.

An elderly man was crushed to death beneath the wheels of a train near Drigh Road railway station.

The police said that the man was identified as Yousaf Khan, aged 75. He was run over by a train while was walking across the railway tracks.

The body was sent to the JPMC for post-mortem.

CARJACKING: Twenty-four vehicles — 10 cars and 14 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Sunday, the police said.

Six cars were hijacked. Four others were stolen. Five motorcycles were hijacked. Nine others were stolen.

DIES OF BURNS: A young girl died of burns in a hospital on Sunday.

Sources at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital said that Saba, aged 24, was brought to the hospital from Joharabad police limits a few days back. She had suffered serious burns.

The girl had suffered received burns on Dec 29 while cooking in her home in Joharabad, the police said.
