LAHORE: Senior journalist Agha Akbar, former sports editor of a local English daily, passed away here on Sunday after protracted illness.

Suffering from liver and kidney problems, he underwent liver transplant a few months ago but could not recover from post-operation complications and breathed his last on Sunday.

He has left behind two sons and one daughter to mourn his death.

Time for his funeral could not be decided till our going to the press. His family says that the funeral may be held between the night of Tuesday and Wednesday.
