PARIS: Memphis Depay struck twice to help Olympique Lyonnais clinch a Champions League spot with a 4-0 home demolition of Caen in Ligue 1 on Saturday.

Maxwel Cornet and Moussa Dembele also scored to put third-placed Lyon on 69 points, four above fourth-placed St Etienne, who secured a Europa League berth with a 3-0 win over Nice.

Should Chelsea beat Arsenal in the Europa League final, Lyon will be spared the third qualifying round and go straight into the group stage of next season’s Champions League.

Monaco virtually made sure of their survival with

a 2-0 win over Amiens while champions PSG signed off their home campaign with Kylian Mbappe scoring his 32nd league goal of the season in a 4-0 win over Dijon.

Radamel Falcao and Alexsander Golovin scored in either half at the Stade Louis II to take Monaco to 36 points and three above the drop zone with one match left to play.

Monaco, the 2017 champions, are not mathematically safe but they have a three-point lead over Caen who occupy the relegation play-off spot with a goal difference of seven.

A few hours after the OL women snatched a sixth Champions League title, the men secured their place in next season’s competition.

Dutchman Depay put them ahead after being set up by Cornet, who doubled the tally with a curled shot before Dembele, who missed a first-half penalty, added a third and Depay volleyed home the fourth.

After the game, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas confirmed that Brazil’s Sylvinho, who once played for Barcelona and Arsenal, will become the new coach to replace Bruno Genesio.

The 45-year-old was hand-picked for the job by compatriot Juninho, a former Lyon star who will be the club’s new sporting director.

Sylvinho had been working as right-hand man to Brazil coach Tite and had been preparing a team for the 2020 Olympics in Japan.

Lyon cannot finish second, however, as Lille, who crushed Angers 5-0 with the in-demand Nicolas Pepe scoring twice, have 75 points.

St Etienne striker Robert Beric scored twice and Romain Hamouma added a late goal in a buoyant atmosphere at Geoffroy Guichard Stadium as they secured fourth place.

Before being presented with the champions’ trophy at the Parc des Princes, PSG thrashed Dijon with goals by Angel Di Maria and Edinson Cavani, and a Mbappe double.

Di Maria opened the scoring with a fine curling shot before setting up Cavani and Mbappe added a third from close range before halftime.

PSG were without Brazil forward Neymar, who was suspended for hitting a fan following their defeat in the French Cup final by Stade Rennais.

The 20-year-old Mbappe scored again in the second half, becoming the first French player to net 32 goals in Ligue 1 since Philippe Gondet’s 36 for Nantes in the 1965-66 season.
