PESHAWAR: The newly-constructed international arrival terminal at the Bacha Khan International Airport was inaugurated here on Saturday, said an official statement.

The terminal has capacity to accommodate around 1,000 passengers and has been equipped with latest scanning machines and other facilities. The statement said Civil Aviation Authority opened the terminal for passengers.

Construction of spacious terminal is part of the ongoing expansion project of the airport.

First phase of the airport was completed last year and former prime minister Shahid Khaqqan Abbasi had inaugurated the facility.

The statement said Rs3 billion had been spent on the project. Work on domestic lounge was completed last year. Officials said 12 immigration counters had been set up at the international terminal. They said remaining work would be completed soon.
