ISLAMABAD: The capital administration has issued price list of 24 essential edible items for Ramazan, sources told Dawn on Saturday.

Besides, the edibles items manufactured by companies like oil, ghee, biscuits, cold drinks, fruit juices and water will be sold at the rate printed on the products, the officials of the capital administration said adding prices of vegetables and fruits will be fixed on daily basis.

Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat told Dawn that the prices will come into effect a day before the start of Ramazan and remain effective till the last day of the holy month.

He said teams had been constituted to check the prices in the capital’s urban and rural areas.

The teams under the supervision of assistant commissioners and magistrates will daily visit markets, utility stores, fair price shops and Ramazan Bazaars.

The violators of the fixed rate will be dealt with strictly which includes fine, seal of shops and imprisonment.

According to the notification, 20kg wheat flour bag will be available at Rs725 in Ramazan Bazaars, the officials of the capital administration said, adding that retail price of rice basmati (news), rice basmati (old) and rice irri per kg was fixed at Rs120, 136 and Rs50 and at Ramazan Bazaar the rice varieties will be available at Rs138, Rs130 and Rs48 respectively.

The retail price of gram dal (bareek), gram dal (moti) per kg were fixed Rs112 and 122 and at Ramazan bazaar they will be sold at Rs110 and Rs120 respectively, they stated, adding that the retail price of various pulses including Mash, Moong was fixed at Rs140, Rs152 and Rs152 and at Ramadan Bazaar at Rs135, 145 and 145 respectively.

The retail price of white gram (mota), white gram (bareek) and basin per kg was fixed at Rs145, 104 and Rs122 and at Ramazan Bazaar at Rs140, Rs95 and Rs118 respectively, the officials said, adding that the retail price of mutton and beef per kg was fixed at Rs790 and 370 and at Ramazan Bazaar at Rs750 and Rs345 respectively.

The retail rate of sugar and red chili per kg was fixed at Rs61 and 362 and at Ramazan Bazaar at Rs55 and Rs630 respectively, the officials stated, adding that retail rate of milk loose per liter was fixed at Rs70 and yogurt per kg at Rs80.

Ramazan Bazaars were also set up in the garrison city and it will continue till Eidul Fitr.

Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Mohammad Ali Randhawa visited RamzanBazaars at Nawaz Sharif Park, Committee Chowk, Haidari Chowk and Dhoke Hassu and inquired about the demand and supply of essential items.

Assistant Commissioner Ahmed Hasan Ranjha, Additional Deputy Commissioner Maliha Jamal and other senior officials also accompanied the commissioner.

Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Mohammad Ali Randhawa was briefed about arrangements made in each Ramzan Bazaar to facilitate the visitors.

Officials informed DC that proper sitting places had been made for women and old citizens besides installation of CCTV cameras to ensure safety and security of visitors as well as stall holders.

DC said that Sasta Bazaars had been specially set up to provide relief to the citizens to get all eatables and daily use necessary commodities on five to 20pc subsidized rates.
