LAHORE: The Raiwind Road police arrested four members of a family after a local resident alleged that they killed a girl for honour on Sunday.

The suspects arrested by police included parents of 25-year-old Tayyaba, her brother and husband.

A police official said the parents informed their relatives on Sunday that Tayyaba had died after suffering from some health issues. They later buried her in a local graveyard late at night, the official said, adding that a local resident informed police that Tayyaba had been murdered by her parents with the connivance of her husband and brother.

The resident further told police that they killed her over suspicions of having relations with a neighbour.

After initial inquiries, police arrested the four suspects when one of them changed statements during interrogation. The official said legal process had been initiated to exhume body of the girl to investigate the matter.

In another incident, a girl allegedly committed suicide by swallowing poisonous tablets in Islampura.

Police claimed that Mehwish (20) had some domestic issues with her parents due to which she committed suicide. Police shifted her body to the city morgue for autopsy to further investigate the case.
