MANSEHRA: Two people died as their jeep plunged into the Indus River in Jigal area of Lower Kohistan district on Tuesday.

The accident occurred when the driver lost control of the jeep while negotiating a sharp turn on the way from Jigal Bazaar to Koshal village.

The divers recovered bodies of Waliat Noor and Mohammad Inam, both residents of Jigal area, from the river.

The police began investigation into the incident after registering an FIR.

SENTENCED: District and sessions judge of Torghar Ashfaq Taj on Tuesday handed down 14 years imprisonment and Rs100,000 fine to a man for sexually assaulting the fiancée of his brother in Oghi area.

Mohammad Asif had faced the charge of sexually assaulting the girl repeatedly in Karori village before risking her life by attempting abortion.

WORKERS CONVENTION: The Jamaat-i-Islami-Fazl held the workers convention here on Tuesday.

JUI-F district emir Mufti Kifayatullah told participants that the April 28 million march to be led by party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman would strengthen agitation against the PTI government.

He criticised the government over the growing inflation and hike in utility charges and said the people were struggling to make ends meet.
