KOHAT: In a crackdown on substandard CNG kits, the traffic wardens seized cylinders from 20 inter-district vehicles during operations on the highways here on Tuesday.

During an awareness campaign last week, district police officer Wahid Mehmood had directed the transporters to avoid overloading vehicles with additional cylinders and to use them only after getting the fitness certificate for the safety of passengers.

On the expiry of the deadline, traffic warden in-charge Arab Jan launched the operations at the bus stands and on the highways. The traffic wardens removed illegal kits from 20 vehicles on the first day while the transporters assured them that they would remove the additional ones voluntarily.

The officials advised the transporters that extra kits should be avoided and some petrol should also be used which was good for the maintenance of engines.
