KHAR: Two minor girls were killed and their mother injured when veranda of their house collapsed in Mamond tehsil of Bajaur tribal district, bringing the number of causalities occurred in rain-related incidents to seven over the past three days.

Officials and residents said the incident occurred in Shakroo area late on Thursday evening.

According to residents, family members of Gul Nazir Khan were sitting in the veranda when it collapsed. Twin sisters identified as Safana and Sana, 3, were killed on the spot while their mother was wounded.

Following the incident, people of nearby houses reached the spot and retrieved the bodies and injured from the rubble.

The wounded woman was taken to the district headquarters hospital, Khar, where her condition was stated to be out of danger.

An official told this correspondent that it was the third rain-related incident in the district over the past three days. He added seven persons had so far been killed and eight others wounded in the rain-related incidents in different areas of the district.

Later, the twin sisters were laid to rest in their native graveyard on Friday afternoon.

Also, the three victims of the same family who died owing to a room collapse in Inayat Kallay area were laid to rest on Friday.

Meanwhile, a team of district administration officials led by deputy commissioner Usman Mehsood on Friday visited the house of bereaved family in Inayat Kallay and gave cash amount to the heirs of the victims.
