CHARSADDA: Qaumi Watan Party chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said on Friday that the reshuffle of federal cabinet showed that the government had failed to deliver on its election promises.

He was addressing a gathering to mark the death anniversary of QWP leader Alamzeb Umarzai in Umarzai village here.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan had placed his trust in Asad Umar as finance minister, who miserably failed to deliver and was made to resign,” he said and added that the premier should now admit the failure that his government could not deliver.

Sherpao says PTI’s devolution plan fails to deliver

The QWP chairman said that the country was on the verge of going bankrupt due to the ill-conceived economic policies of the government. He said that the prime minister should explain his decision of removing the finance minister, who failed to turn the economy around in his eight-month stint.

About the 18th Amendment, he said that the government lacked the required two-thirds majority in parliament to go ahead with its ‘sinister plan’. He said that those extolling virtues of the presidential form of government should remember that this parliament was not mandated to change the structure of the Constitution into the one that could establish a presidential form of government.

“We will resist any bid to introduce the presidential form of government in the country,” he said.

About the abolition of district tier of the local government system, Mr Sherpao said that the PTI rulers had introduced it with much fanfare in their previous term, but now it was being done away with which showed that the devolution could not bring the desired results.

He also expressed concern over the recent wave of terrorism in the country, saying that the law and order was deteriorating with each passing day.

QWP leaders Sikandar Sherpao, Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli and Arshad Khan Umarzai were also present on the occasion.
