PESHAWAR: Pakhtunkhwa Olasi Tehreek (POT) leader Dr Said Alam Mahsud has criticised the government for putting his name on the Exit Control List and described the action as violation of a decision of the Peshawar High Court.

Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, Dr Mahsud said that he was suffering from sinuses and wanted to go abroad for medical treatment, but the government was not allowing him.

Flanked by his legal counsels, the POT leader said he had obtained the ticket to go to UK for treatment, but he could not proceed because of his name on ECL.

He said that the Peshawar High Court on his petition had already directed the government to let him go abroad.

“State minister for interior Shehryar Afridi will be responsible in case of any problem to me,” he said and warned that his family/lawyers would register an FIR against the minister on his advice.

He said that his file had been pending on the table of interior minister for the past five days.

“We are law abiding citizens of the country and thus moved a relevant court for obtaining the permission,” he said and demanded of the chief justice of Peshawar High Court to take suo motu notice of the case.
