SWABI: National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser has said that vigorous efforts are underway to strengthen economy of the country.

Addressing a gathering in Gabasny, a village in the mountainous region of Gadoon Amazai, on Thursday, he said that the country was facing the problem of huge debts but the day was not far when its economic condition would be improved.

Mr Qaiser did not say anything about the International Monterey Fund bailout package. However, about the resignation of former finance minister Asad Umar, he said that the decision was made by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“PML-N is responsible for the whole economic mess in the country. PTI inherited economic crises from the previous government,” he said.

Mr Qaiser said that an adequate amount would be allocated to agriculture sector by the federal government in the upcoming budget. He said that previous governments made pledges about giving importance to agriculture sector but failed to materialise their promises.

He said that latest technology would also be used to increase the agricultural produce and improve the financial position of farmers. “Growers can work hard to fulfil the requirements of the country when they are supported by the government,” he added.

About Pakistan-India relations, Mr Qaiser said that Islamabad strived to improve relations with New Delhi because peace was prerequisite for economic progress and prosperity. “Pakistan is a peaceful country and works for peace in South Asia,” he added.

He said that government would take steps to resolve the problems faced by the residents of Gadoon Amazai. “We are determined to working with complete devotion for the welfare of GadoonAmazai people,” he added.

MILK: Assistant Commissioner Tabinda Tariq along with officials of livestock and diary development department raided various milksops on Thursday and destroyed more than 300 litres of adulterated milk.

The operation was conducted in Shewa Adda, Karnal Sher Khan village, Parmuli, Sodher and other areas.

KILLED: A man was killed in Khat Kallay, a village of Razaar tehsil on Thursday.

Police said that Daud Khan was shot dead allegedly by Mazhar Khan and Ibrahim Khan over a petty issue.
