LAHORE: A civil court has issued bailable arrest warrants of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) CEO Air Marshal Arshad Malik and three other officials for not attending proceedings of a contempt plea against them.

Capt Mian Shahzad Aziz had filed the contempt petition against the respondents for not reinstating his services despite a court order.

On Tuesday, the process server told the court that the respondents refused to receive the summons saying the legal advisor to the PIA was on leave.

Civil Judge Akram Azad observed that the respondents were supposed to appear in person to face the contempt proceedings, however, they failed to comply with the previous order. Therefore, the respondents were again summoned through bailable arrest warrants with direction to appear on April 24.

Other respondents are Director Flight Operations Capt Uzair Khan, chief pilot Lahore Ali Zaman and chief human resource officer Air Vice Marshal Subhan Nazir.
