KARAK: A boy was killed and five others were injured when a hand grenade went off in Takht-i-Nusrati tehsil on Sunday.

Police said the children were playing in a street of Mohalla Chatta Banda when they found a toy-like object and started playing with it. However, the object went off, killing four-year-old Ahmad Jan on the spot. Five other children present on the spot suffered injuries. They were identified as Umair, 7, Mohammad, 6, Arsalan, 5, Sanoris, 8, and Noorullah, 8.

The dead and the injured were shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Karak, where doctors said the injured boys were in stable condition.

District police officer Nausher Khan Mohmand visited the hospital and met with the relatives of the injured boys. He assured them that the accused would be brought to justice.

Noor Shah Jan, father of the deceased boy, registered FIR of the incident in Yaqoob Khan Shaheed police station. He said they had no enmity with anyone in the area.

Meanwhile, two youngsters sustained critical injuries when a motorcycle collided with a tractor. The injured, Yasir and Wadood, residents of Deli Mela, were taken to the district headquarters hospital.
