QUETTA: Five persons, including Nawabzada Saifullah Khan Magsi, an ex-Member of the West Pakistan Assembly, were killed and another was seriously injured in a dacoity yesterday [April 11] at a place about 15 miles from Jhal. The victims are Nawabzada Saifullah Khan Magsi, Mir Atal Khan Magsi Saqani, Munshi Mohammad Din, Mr Abdul Karim Josh, Moharrar, judicial and Qadir Baksh, driver. The injured, Syed Saleh Shah Hashmi, Naib Tehsildar of Jhal, was rushed to the Civil Hospital, Quetta where he is stated to be out of danger.

The Deputy Commissioner of Karachi district of Kalat division, Mr Rafiq Ahmed Khan, the Superintendent of Police, Karachi, Mr Mohsin Manzoor, the Nazim, Bhag, Mirza Husain Ali and personnel of Rangers and Police rushed to the site of the incident this morning to apprehend the dacoits.

It is reported that the victims were travelling in a jeep from Jhal to Panjuk yesterday. Their vehicle was hardly about five miles from their destination when the dacoits, who were hiding in bushes on either side of the road, opened fire using about 80 to 100 rounds ... the dacoits later pulled the bodies out of the vehicle, searched them, removed cash and other belongings and made good their escape.

The investigations into the incident are in pro­gress. No arrests have been made so far.
