DERA GHAZI KHAN: Police and Rangers have launched a joint operation against bandits in riverine area of Rojhan Mazari tehsil of Rajanpur district.

Sources told Dawn that police and Rangers cordoned off the area where bandits have their hideouts.

Dera Ghazi Khan Regional Police Officer Muhammad Umer Sheikh said as many as 300 police personnel of Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Muzaffargarh districts were taking part in the operation along with Rangers. The RPO said the civilian population had been evacuated from Kacha Karachi to avoid any collateral damage.

After the incident of firing on Khushal express, operation was decided on the direction of the chief minister to maintain peace and tranquility in areas of Rojhan Mazari.

He said the Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur district police officers were supervising the joint operation.
