LAKKI MARWAT: Four people were killed and eight others wounded in two separate incidents here on Tuesday.

Police said that three people were killed and eight others injured when a pickup van overturned on the Indus Highway near Umar Adda after one its rear wheels separated from the vehicle.

As a result, three passengers, including Nazeer, Qadeer and Habibullah, were killed on the spot, while eight others suffered wounds.

The injured were identified as Mohammad Khan, Alamgir, Mohammad Ibrahim, Umar Khan, Pir Mohammad, Farhadullah, Munir Khan and Tauseefur Rehman. Police registered the case and have started investigation.

Meanwhile, police said that a man was gunned down over a petty dispute in Kotka Sikandar village of Naurang town.

They said that Jamshed and his brother Jehanzeb were intercepted by armed men when they were returning to the village.

The police said that Iftikhar and Piao first allegedly argued with Jamshed over payment of house rent and then shot him dead on the spot.

A case has been registered in Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station.

ENCROACHMENTS REMOVED: The district administration with the help of TMA, police and revenue department officials removed illegally-built structures from Bukhari Shah Graveyard in Lakki city on Tuesday.

Deputy commissioner Jehangir Azam Wazir along with DPO Asif Gohar supervised the anti-encroachment operation.

Land grabbers had occupied the area of graveyard and erected permanent structures on it. They had also sold out pieces of the land to local people at high prices.

The TMA officials razed the illegal structures with the help of heavy machinery and recovered around 20 kanals of the cemetery.

The DC also visited the burial place to monitor the action against encroachers. On this occasion, Mr Wazir said that the administration would not allow anyone to occupy the graveyard’s land or properties owned by the government.
