TAXILA: Holding local fairs not only promotes culture but also provides young people with healthy forms of entertainment, National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser said at the closing ceremony of the Attock Spring Festival.

The ceremony was also attended by MNA Tahir Sadiq, MPA Malik Jamshed Altaf and others.

Mr Qaiser said the Attock festival gave people a chance to come together for greater understanding and to promote love, unity and brotherhood.

He said such festivals strengthen relationships and young people have the opportunity to enjoy health entertainment.

Nearly 400 horse riders participated in the tent pegging competition

He added that the construction of roads from Faqeerabad to Tarbela and Tarnol to Khushal Garh will begin soon in order to provide area residents with better travelling facilities.

A model village will also be established in Attock, he said.

Mr Qaiser also praised the efforts of Mr Sadiq in organising the festival, and distributed trophies and prizes among the winners of various competitions, including tent pegging, clay pigeon shooting, dog racing, cycle racing, tanga racing, kabbaddi, and luddi and khattak dances.

Nearly 400 horse riders, who came from Azad Kashmir, Murree, Gujar Khan, Haripur, Abbottabad, Mianwali, Khushab, Jhang and Sargodha, participated in tent pegging.

The Attock Spring Festival was organised by MNA Tahir Sadiq and Attock District Council Chairperson Eman Tahir.
