KARACHI, July 8: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has called upon all the coalition parties in the Sindh government to work for public welfare, keeping in view the aims and objectives of the coalition government. Speaking to ministers and advisors of the coalition parties at Governor’s House, Mr Ibad asked them to work under a wider vision. Pointing out that every political party has an objective of providing relief to the people at the grassroots level, the governor apprised the public representatives and administration officials about his vision for development of the province, welfare of the people and to counter the challenges faced by the country at international level.

He said the more the good governance will be strengthened, the more there would be success in the attainment of objectives and common man would get comfort, and relief.

Mr Ibad declared that progress of Sindh means stability of whole country

“Pakistan can earn a significant position in the comity of nations by working for human rights, elimination of terrorism and strengthening democratic institutions in the backdrop of international scenario”.

“We should know as to what is being expected from us at the international level”.

It is not the responsibility of the President and the Prime Minister alone, but of the entire government and the opposition.

“We all should work in a manner that Pakistan is recognised as a civilised, and educated society, as a defender of human rights and friend of peace and humanity,” the governor emphasised.

He said it is the joint responsibility of the elected representatives and administrative officials to promote understanding between the government and the people and they should also carry on the policies of the federal and provincial governments so that people get maximum facilities.

“A positive headway could be achieved only by ensuring the requirements of good governance”.

He said that the government during the last three years had carried out development works worth billions of rupees, so that problems pending for years could be solved and economic activities be revived and opportunities of employment could be provided and investment could be promoted.

He said exemplary measures have been taken in the fields of agriculture, irrigation, health, education, water supply etc.

Particularly, the governor said, significant successes had been achieved in the restoration of law and order and elimination of terrorists.

In this regard, no promises for the future are being made, but these things have been done during the last three years.

He urged the elected representatives and administration officials to ensure liaison with people at the grassroot level and chalk out comprehensive programmes in this respect.

The ministers and advisors appreciated the governor’s vision for progress of the province.

Dr Ibad said that during the last two years a decline in unemployment graph had been registered.
