LAHORE, July 6: Four goals by international Ijaz Ahmad helped Gulberg Eaglets carve out a convincing 6-0 win against Model Town Club in the Lahore district Inter-club hockey championship at the National Stadium No 2 ground on Wednesday.

The winners gained an early lead when Rizwan Qadeer slammed in a field goal in the 6th minute. Ijaz struck his first in the 12th minute and the second in the 22nd minute to consolidate the lead 3-0.

One minute later, Mohammad Nadeem found the target as Gulberg Eaglets surge 4-0 ahead.

More humiliation for Model Town Club were in store, as Ijaz scored back-to-back goals in the 49th and the 58th minute to complete the scoring. In another match, Eaglets Club struggled to beat Mohammedan Club on penalty-stroke 5-4 after levelling at 1-1 during the regulation time.

Zohaib scored first for Mohammedan Club in the 21st minute while the Eaglets restored the parity through Muslehud Din who struck in the 50th minute.
