KARACHI: The weather turned chilly in the evening after several parts of the city received light showers on Saturday when a fresh system of rains entered the city. Officials said the temperature would start rising after 24 to 36 hours.

Temperature in the metropolis dropped after different parts of the city received light rain. The areas included Surjani Town, New Karachi, Sohrab Goth, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Malir, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Nazimabad, M.A. Jinnah Road, SITE Area, Liaquatabad, Orangi Town etc.

The city temperature, a senior Met official said, had dropped to 17 degrees Centigrade in the evening and would fall to 15 degrees Centigrade at midnight.

“The cloudy and rainy weather is expected to fizzle out within the next 24 hours,” said Abdul Rasheed, director of the Met office. “The westerly winds coupled with brief spells of showers in different parts of the city brought the temperature down. The temperature would start normalising tomorrow [Sunday] evening. The new system of rain originally started from Iran and then travelled to Balochistan which finally affected the Makran coast and then Karachi to some extent.”
