THE country is not prepared to deal with the challenges thrown up by the fourth industrial revolution. Thus it is also not in a position to avail itself of the opportunities it offers.
Pakistan must hone the technical skills of its human resources and draw up a strategy to reduce the impact of losing jobs to automation, artificial intelligence and internet resources.
Although automation advance is inevitable, technical jobs like plumbers, electricians, welders, carpenters, scaffolders, shop machinists, field machinists, auto technicians, auto mechanics and vehicle drivers remain safe for the near future.
There is a need for the government to come up with plans to train our work force for the world of tomorrow.
