LANDI KOTAL: Three persons, one pedestrian among them, were killed in a firing incident in Bazaar-Zakhakhel area here on Tuesday.

Khasadar officials said that the incident took place in Tabai village, close to Afghan border, when armed men fired at their opponents, killing two of them, Raz Wali and Musharraf Khan, on the spot. A local tribesman identified as Fateh Gul was also killed in the incident.

Officials said the reason behind the incident was an old family feud. The gunmen managed to escape.

Meanwhile, Wali Khel residents on Tuesday forcibly stopped the polio vaccination campaign in their area in order to register their anger against the prolonged and unscheduled electricity loadshedding.

Residents alleged that local grid station officials had subjected them to over 20 hours of loadshedding daily.

They argued that they were also faced with acute water shortage as the power suspension had rendered tubewells ineffective. They, however, ended their boycott of the polio vaccination and allowed resumption of the campaign after an assurance about reduction in loadshedding duration by local authorities.
