Netflix has been axing all their Marvel hits and now two more bite the dust.

Critically acclaimed shows The Punisher and Jessica Jones have been cancelled, following the previous canceling of shows like Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

Netflix released a statement, saying, "Marvel’s The Punisher will not return for a third season on Netflix. Showrunner Steve Lightfoot, the terrific crew, and exceptional cast including star Jon Bernthal, delivered an acclaimed and compelling series for fans, and we are proud to showcase their work on Netflix for years to come."

"In addition, in reviewing our Marvel programming, we have decided that the upcoming third season will also be the final season for Marvel’s Jessica Jones. We are grateful to showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, star Krysten Ritter and the entire cast and crew, for three incredible seasons of this groundbreaking series, which was recognized by the Peabody Awards among many others."

The statement included, "We are grateful to Marvel for five years of our fruitful partnership and thank the passionate fans who have followed these series from the beginning."

Actor Jon Bernthal, who brilliantly portrayed Frank Castle for two seasons along with his introduction in Daredevil, took to Instagram to bid farewell to the show.

The Marvel cancellations have been said to be connected to Disney working on their own streaming service. Unfortunately due to the deal made by Marvel with Netflix, the existing characters cannot return to the MCU till 2020/2021, which is why the series couldn't just be shifted to the new streaming service.

Knowing Marvel show fans, we don't think they'd mind waiting that long to see Charlie Cox reprise his role as Matt Murdock or Jon Bernthal as Castle.
