HYDERABAD: Sindh Education, Culture and Tourism Minister Syed Sardar Shah has said that the education sector had not been given proper attention in the past and there was much room for improvement in this regard. He said that unnecessary and dysfunctional schools would be closed in Sindh.
He was talking to journalists in Sindh Museum after visiting an exhibition of science project models built by students on Saturday. He said that the present government had prepared a roadmap for education sector and from July onwards new policy would be implemented.
He said teachers would be appointed on merit and services of headmasters, who were appointed on contact basis, would be regularised.
He emphasised the need for hard work and honesty in putting education system on track.
He said that there were places where number of schools had exceeded and this had become a problem for the government.
