I WOULD like to talk about the condition of the link road between Mehdi Hassan Road and Fakhruddin Valika Road in Sindh Industrial Trading Estate (SITE) situated between K-Electric and Kaka CNG station.
For several years, the road has been almost impassable. We have made several complaints to various authorities, who ultimately responded as well, but that too after our continuous follow-ups. The responses and solutions provided, however, did not completely eradicate our problem.
The road which I am referring to not only needs repairs; there is a dire need to reconstruct the sewerage system as well. Sewerage water overflows from the dying industries located within the vicinity. Unfortunately, the existing sewerage system/pipelines/culverts are unable to bear the load of the ever-expanding dyeing industry in our area.
As a result, the narrow sewage lines and the nullahs paved on the sides of the road are insufficient to withhold the gush of water being excreted by the dyeing companies on a regular basis. The underground water pipelines have also become rotten over a period of time and there are many leaks as well.
All in all, it would not be wrong to say that our road has been neglected for too long. Underground water pipes are leaking and the drainage system is completely blocked. The result is that the road keeps getting washed away each time it is constructed.
