Kashmir Day

Published February 14, 2019

ON Kashmir Solidarity Day, several conventions and walks for solidarity with Kashmiris were organised. If we as a nation consider that all these are enough to show our solidarity with our Kashmiri brethren, we are wrong.

Lip-service alone cannot liberate Kashmir. As a responsible nation, we need to take practical steps. On the one hand, we blame India for its brutality in India-occupied Kashmir. On the other hand, ironically, our cinemas show Indian movies.

There should be a ban on Indian films as a protest for committing atrocities against Kashmiris. Then we must include the Kashmir issue and its solution in school textbooks.

Sadly, there is not a single chapter about the Kashmir issue in the curriculum from grade one to bachelor’s. Our youth do not have in-depth knowledge about the facts related to this issue.

Instead of hollow slogans, practical steps will show our solidarity with our Kashmiri brothers.
