RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Rawalpindi on Monday acquitted eight people in an alleged kidnapping for ransom case.

The case was based on a complaint filed by Mohammad Iqbal, who lived in the jurisdiction of the Airport police.

The complainant alleged that influential people kidnapped him and his daughter and released them after receiving Rs0.7 million ransom.

The police had registered the case under different sections of Pakistan Penal Code and the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.

However, after hearing the arguments of the complainant and the defence counsel, the court acquitted the accused people.
