LAHORE: The family and relatives of a man, who was shot dead in the parking stand outside the district and sessions court, staged a protest at Mughalpura Chowk on Sunday.

The protesters placed the body of the victim on the road and blocked it for traffic and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.

Bilal Azeem, 30, was shot dead allegedly by four unidentified motorcyclists in the parking stand of the district and session court on Saturday morning.

Azeem’s brother said that the victim had gone to the court to seek pre-arrest bail in a kidnapping case of his wife. He had got married to a girl of his choice six months ago. However, differences ensued between the two.

He said that police had implicated his brother in a false case on the complaint of his in-laws. Police were not taking any measures to arrest the culprits and demanded Prime Minister Imran Khan take notice of the incident.

Earlier, District and Sessions Judge Khalid Nawaz had taken notice of the incident and directed police authorities to submit a report to fix responsibility on the police personnel present at the scene and not intervening.

He also directed the police high-ups to make sure the culprits were arrested besides taking stringent security measures to avoid such incidents in and outside the court premises.
