ISLAMABAD: Management of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on Saturday handed over a fake employee to the police.
Manager of Pathology Department Muhammad Nawaz Lali, in a complaint to the police said when he came to the laboratory he found an outsider attending to patients at the laboratory reception. He handed him over to the police and sought an FIR against him.
The complaint has been lodged with the approval of Executive Director Pims Dr Raja Amjad.
Pims Media Coordinator Dr Waseem Khawaja while talking to Dawn said that when the manager came to the laboratory a stranger was dealing with the patients.
“He nabbed the person and handed him over to the police.
When an explanation was sought from the duty official he said that he went to the bathroom and was not aware that who was sitting in his seat,” he said.
In September last year, a fake doctor, who had practicing for six months, was arrested from the hospital.
During initial investigation it was revealed he was basically a vendor of medicines and instruments, and the postgraduates of the hospital had hired him to fill in for them.
The Pims management had not only registered an FIR in the Karachi Company Police but also constituted an inquiry committee to see how many other fake doctors and staff were filling in for postgraduates.
Though the matter was also taken up in the Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services, no one has been punished as yet.
