KARACHI, Jan 11: Son Of None, a six-year-old bay improving tremendously in his last two outings, is fancied as the day’s best, when the Winter Gymkhana Races begin Saturday at the Karachi Racecourse from 1.00 p.m.

Participating in the last race in a card of six events, Son Of None should pass the winning post ahead Queen Of Hearts and Shab-e-Noor, with Satellite Star providing the element of surprise.

All the six events will be contested over the sprinting distance of five furlongs.

Another runner that should not lose Saturday is the 12-year-old chestnut Tanveer-e-Sehar, finishing on the board in his last three starts.

With a good lad astride, Tanveer-e-Sehar should easily get the better of more fancied Baa Wafa, also in fine form and Noor-Un-Nisa.

If all goes well, the grey gelding Ever Shine has the speed to win fifth race from Hamza Saheb and Black Champion. But another grey Sachin lurks in the shadows, going all out to upset the apple-cart.

In the opener, Night Hero after an improved run last time out, looks a good thing to pick up the spoils chased all the way to the winning post by Atish Fishan and Pride Of Performance.

The bay mare Gharnata if ticking, should gallop home to victory in the third race of the afternoon, with Rip Off, Lady Killer, Even Top and Richy Rich joining the fray.

The fourth event has a big field of 17 runners in contention and the bay mare Raysham, being content to play the bridesmaid twice in a row, should oblige her followers by sprinting to victory ahead of Aziz Love and Just In Fun, unless Nihal Pervez’s bay gelding Wonderful Boy decides to prove us wrong.
