LAHORE: The Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) on Saturday introduced an amnesty scheme for those having illegal water connections. Under the scheme, such consumers can get their water connections regularised till March 5 without any fine.

“After the deadline, Wasa teams would launch a survey to detect such illegal connections and make references against such consumers. They would not only face imprisonment for one year but also bear a Rs200,000 fine,” Wasa Vice-Chairman Sheikh Imtiaz Mahmood told reporters at a press conference.

He said those availing the scheme only needed to submit an application with property documents and the CNIC copy.

“We request such consumers to avail the scheme immediately, failing which they must be ready to face a legal course of action,” he warned.
