WHILE the ruling party and the opposition are engaged in a war of words, the economy is in the doldrums, the law and order situation leaves a lot to be desired, and the people are groaning under the twin yoke of increasing inflation and rising unemployment.

An overwhelming proportion of Pakistanis are finding it hard to earn a respectable living to provide two meals to their families.

The politicians need to realise that without peace, no foreign investment will come to these shores, and without investment there will be no robust economy and prosperity. The norms of democracy and national interests demand that our politicians stopped bickering and rose above their petty interests.

This government promised change, peace and prosperity. Now it must stand and deliver.
