LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has launched investigation against Punjab Education Secretary (Schools) Sheikh Zafar Iqal for possessing assets beyond his known sources of income.

According to a source, the NAB Lahore initiated probe against the bureaucrat following information that he allegedly owned over 60 properties here and abroad.

The properties include rice mills and filling stations. Of the total properties, Mr Iqbal made 47 during his service and remaining he received in shape of gifts, the source said.

Zafar Iqbal was not available for comments when Dawn tried to reach him by phone. A TV channel claimed that the accused had confessed to owning properties in question.
