RAWALPINDI: All private and public sector schools will reopen after the winter vacations on Monday.

However, confusion persisted among parents after rumours spread that the Punjab government had further extended the vacations due to the cold wave.

When contacted, District Education Authority Chief Executive Officer Javed Iqbal Awan told Dawn that all schools would reopen as per schedule on Monday. He said the vacations had already been extended to Jan 6.

All-Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Owners Association President Malik Abrar said private schools had already suffered due to the extension in the winter vacations. He said teachers had to prepare their students for annual examinations scheduled for March.

“People should not listen to rumours and consult their respective schools. We have already asked the schools’ administration to inform parents about the reopening of schools,” he said.
