LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) is ready to take action against loose spices from Jan 1 (today) across the province and has finalised an action plan in this regard.
PFA Director General Muhammad Usman directed operation teams to hold a crackdown to ensure implementation of the Punjab Pure Food Regulations in spices sector. He said the authority would not only confiscate the material but also cancel licences of the traders.
The authority had given 18-month adjustment time to food business operators (FBOs) in 2017 for eliminating adulteration possibilities in sale of spices. It had trained the traders associated with spice business before implementing the regulations.
The DG said it would be compulsory for manufacturers to write company and supplier names on packing, details of ingredients, manufacturing and expiry dates, weight and address also.
