OKARA: The engine of Fareed Express broke down on the Basirpur railway station on Kasur-Lodhran section on Thursday.

Railway officials said locomotives’ wheels jammed leaving the passengers stranded in train compartments in the freezing weather for more than five hours.

The train left the station after the technical staff fixed the fault.

ATTACK: A man with his five unidentified accomplices beat Lahore Electric Supply Company official on Thursday.

The first information report says recovery section official Hafiz Muhammad Ejaz with other officials arrived in Johar Town and asked defaulter Muhammad Hussain to pay outstanding or his connection would be discounted. At this, Hussain and his accomplices beat team members, snatched mobile phones and electricity metres from them, torn off official record and injured Hafiz Ejaz.
