CHITRAL: A resident of Jinjirate village of Drosh town here was sent behind bars for refusing administration of polio drops to his children during the recent national immunisation days.

Assistant commissioner, Drosh, Abdul Wali Khan ordered his arrest under section 13-2 of West Pakistan Vaccination Ordinance 1958 when all attempts to convince him to let vaccination of his children failed.

EPI district coordinator Dr Fayaz Roomi identified the man as Nidaur Rahman whose children were vaccinated after his arrest.

He said that a number of refusal cases were reported in different parts of the district, but the issue was resolved when the officers of district administration and health department persuaded the people.

Meanwhile, the education department appointed 119 teachers of different cadres against vacant posts in different girls schools of the district.

District education officer Halima Bibi said that appointment orders were issued for 39 certified teachers (BPS-15), 52 primary school teachers (BPS-12), seven Arabic teachers (BPS-15), four drawing teachers (BPS-15), 11 theology teachers (BPS-12) and as many physical education teachers (BPS-15).
