THE people of Karachi are facing great anxiety and unrest because of the ongoing destruction of shops and houses in the anti-encroachment campaign. A number of protest rallies have been held in front of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation head office.
The anti-encroachment drive has led to a law and order situation in the city as it has rendered thousands of people without any honourable means of income. Of late petty crimes like mobile snatching and mugging have increased to an alarming level.
It is requested that the anti encroachment drive should be stopped immediately and the affected shopkeepers and homeless families be given either sufficient time to relocate their existing shops /homes etc., with compensation or alternatives places without delay.
