LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) launched on Tuesday a major anti-encroachment operation at Jhuggian Nagaran (Sabzazar Scheme) and retrieved its land measuring 30 kanals worth Rs1 billion.

According to officials, the LDA team along with the police demolished various unlawfully constructed houses, a haveli and shops and other structures that had been built on about 30 residential plots (each measuring one kanal) of Sabzazar’s C-block.

The LDA spokesman said the staff retrieved about 75 per cent of illegally occupied land whereas the remaining land could not be vacated due to a restraining order issued by courts.

“The operation is being carried out without any discrimination and no one will be given any relaxation,” he added.

SEALED: The city admin on Tuesday sealed a gas plant on Raiwind Road for selling LPG to the retailers at higher rates.

On the other hand, various city teams arrested 58 shopkeepers for selling LPG on higher rates.
