BUNER: An old enmity claimed lives of four members of a family and caused injuries to another in Daggar area here on Friday.

According to police, some persons opened indiscriminate fire on a car in Naway Kallay Banda area, killing four persons on the spot. They were named Khan Faroosh, Khawar Shah, Tariq and Mohammad Jan.

Ijaz, son of Faroosh, was seriously injured and shifted to a major hospital in Peshawar in critical condition. All the deceased belonged to same family. Earlier, the bodies and the injured were shifted to DHQ Hospital, Daggar.

The victims were coming back from Naway Kallay after attending a funeral prayer of a relative.

The attackers managed to escape after committing the crime.

A complainant, Feroz Shah, son of Khawar Shah, lodged a report in Daggar police station, charging Alam Khan, Rahim Khan, Shah Hassan, and Murad with the murder, police said.

The police said quoting the complainant that one of the accused, Jamshid, also one of the attackers, had kidnapped daughter of Khan Faroosh, some 16 years ago.

Jamshid was injured in an attack reportedly carried out by Khan Faroosh family a one month ago.

Police said the family of Jamshid orchestrated the attack to take revenge from Faroosh’s family.

The police cordoned off the area to avoid further clash between the rival families. However, the efforts to arrest the killers could not bear fruit till late night.
