Model Town massacre

Published November 30, 2018

THE Model Town massacre in Lahore on June 17, 2014, is still fresh in the minds of people. Nevertheless, it is ironic that even after a lapse of four years the culprits of this cold-blooded murder have not been brought to justice.

This is simply shameful. How brutally they were killed is on videos which will serve as a hard and irrefutable evidence against the perpetrators. Those unfortunate citizens were not gunned down in occupied Kashmir but in the very heart of Punjab metropolis Lahore.

Even women and children were not spared. All were brutally murdered. The probe into the matter was suppressed by the then Punjab chief minister.

The then prime minister also hushed up the matter. Not only that the culprits were consciously protected, some of them were sent on foreign postings. Since the judiciary is now playing its rightful role, I will appeal to the chief justice of Pakistan to take suo motu action against the culprits.

The families of the victims are eagerly waiting for justice. Four years have already passed.

It should not take 40 years. Lastly, the man for whom they laid down their lives has clearly betrayed them.
