The capital city police on Monday issued driving licence to a transgender person, Ali Layla, after administering all practical driving tests, DawnNewsTV reported. This is the first time a transgender individual has been issued a driving licence in the federal capital.

Later, Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Amir Zulfiqar met Layla and vowed that the problems of transgender community would be solved on a priority basis, the police spokesperson said.

Marking a first in the history of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the provincial government had issued driving licences to 15 transgender persons in March this year.
