SDPO Javaid Hassan told newsmen that 22-year-old Shahid Tauqeer, a shopkeeper, was shot dead and his friend Shahzaib Zaman injured during a botched up robbery in Jameelabad on Oct 19.

He said investigators got a clue to the suspect through an eyewitness and arrested him from Pind Gondal.

The weapons used in the crime was also recovered.

The SDPO said Ilmas Shah and Noman Afzal, who had allegedly robbed Rs4.5 million from a housing society office, were also arrested and the cash recovered from them.

He claimed that with the help of the Rawalpindi police, two suspects were also arrested from Multan who had shot and killed a jeweller on resistance during a robbery in August.

The Wah Saddar police arrested Javaid Mehmood from Hassanabdal on the charge of killing former councilor Malik Tahir Mehmood four years ago.
