RAWALPINDI: The Defense Housing Authority (DHA) has turned to police to check growing incidents of theft and robberies and sought a picket in DHA Phase I, Rawalpindi.
In a letter to Deputy Inspector General of Police Punjab, the DHA management said private guards had been making all out efforts to provide safe and secure living environment to its residents through its own security apparatus but they still required cooperation of local police to check the crimes in the area.
They also asked the police that for better coordination, timely exchange of information, timely appearance at the crime scene and above all easy access to the residents, it is very important to establish a police picket in Phase I.
The management believes that establishing a police post will not only save the residents of Phase I from unwarranted panic but would also facilitate Police Station Morgah in handling and checking the crimes in the area in a better way.
The DHA management also offered to provide land and bear expenses for establishing the police post in Phase I.
According to sources, in line with the DHA management’s request for establishing a police post in PhaseI, the inspector general of police Punjab has sought report from the Regional Police Officer and City Police Officer Rawalpindi in this regard.
He said the police chief Amjad Javaid Saleemi had also directed the CPO Rawalpindi to send report on establishing police post in the DHA at the earliest.
