The annual international literary honour awards a monetary prize to authors writing about South Asia and its people. In its eight year the DSC Prize has shortlisted six books which are in the running to win US $25,000.

Four of the six titles on the shortlist are by Indian origin authors: Jayant Kaikini's No Presents Please, Manu Joseph's Miss Laila Armed And Dangerous, Neel Mukherjee's A State Of Freedom, and Sujit Saraf's Harilal & Sons.

The shortlist was announced at a special event at the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE).
