NOV 9 was the birthday of Allama Muhammad Iqbal who gave the concept of a separate homeland for Muslims of sub-continent. He stands tall in the annals of history along with Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
It is an irony that we show least respect to our national heroes, national game, national flower and all other national emblems.
The government’s denial of public holiday on Iqbal Day is unfortunate. Iqbal Day should be celebrated with enthusiasm and in a befitting manner.
Children and youth should be given the message of Iqbal by organising special functions on this day, which should be attended by parents also. It is hoped that the suggestion will not fall on deaf ears.
